The new location reflects SIG’s ongoing commitment to putting customers at the heart of everything it does.

The SIG Distribution branch in Norwich is returning to its roots. It’s going back to its original site from when it first opened its doors in 1990. Having received a multi-million investment, the new branch promises to modernise and enhance the SIG customer experience.

With a focus on creating a more accessible, efficient, sustainable and welcoming environment, the new location reflects SIG’s ongoing commitment to putting customers at the heart of everything they do.

The new branch spans an impressive 50,000 sq. ft allowing for a wider range of core and specialist products. This includes more of the everyday stock, such as insulation and plasterboard, right up to holding specialist products to better meet the needs of general and specialist contractors alike.

SIG Construction Accessories products will also be available to provide local contractors with specialist masonry, groundworks, geotextile, and concrete repair solutions.

Andy Bowers, SIG Norwich Branch Director who has worked at the branch for over 30 years, said: “By moving back to our original site, but now with a much bigger warehouse, we can stock more of what our customers want. Customer collections will become more efficient in our new trade counter which also offers hot drinks and free Wi-Fi for a more comfortable and convenient experience. It’s an improvement on all fronts.”

Four dedicated bays for loading directly into customer’s vehicles will ensure an efficient collection process and with more availability, customers will continue to have the flexibility to choose suitable delivery times throughout the East Anglia region.

The new branch also includes a range of specialist services to suit more niche applications. Featuring a new temperature-controlled storage facility, the branch can safely store products within the specification specifically for nuclear projects including Sizewell C.

Sustainability played a key role in the branch’s redevelopment as SIG strive to reach their goal of Net Zero Carbon by 2035.

Lorna Stork, ESG Director, said: “We wanted to make sure this branch was as future-proof as possible from a sustainability point of view. We’ve added extra insulation following a fabric first approach, installed solar panels on the roof to provide renewable power to the building and new electric car charging points.

"All of the forklifts have energy-saving measures and modern LED and PUR lighting will be installed throughout the warehouse and the offices. Making all these changes in tandem will have a positive effect in reducing the total emissions at the site.”

SIG Norwich is one of 30 branches nationwide and is scheduled to open its doors later this month. The relocation is being executed in phases to ensure a seamless transition, with both old and new sites operating simultaneously.
