Working with Sheffield Wednesday FC’s Community Programme will help bring about greater opportunity and business experience for young people in the Sheffield area.

ForgeFix, one of the UK’s leading distributors of fixings, fasteners and associated products to the trade, is working in conjunction with Sheffield Wednesday FC’s Community Programme to help bring about greater opportunity and business experience for young people in the Sheffield area.

Sheffield Wednesday FC Community Programme is the football club’s charitable arm, established to support the development of cohesive community provision in the wider Sheffield area.

Since 2005, the organisation has delivered projects with a social value of more than £8 million per year and remains dedicated to developing communities by working with people of all ages and backgrounds to tackle inequality, reduce violence, enhance mental and physical health, educate young learners, and support individuals to re-engage with society.

ForgeFix’s involvement with SWFCCP follows the company’s relocation to Bessemer Park earlier this year. The move to a modern, purpose-built site supports the company’s long-term growth ambitions as well as providing a central hub for innovation, training and industry collaboration. The partnership with SWFCCP forms part of the business’ desire to put back into the communities in which it trades and to use its resources to support young people in the area.

As part of ForgeFix’s community programme they will be offering young people and those not in full time education, employment or training with opportunities to visit Bessemer Park on a series of open days to experience firsthand the business operations and state of the art facilities. As part of the programme, ForgeFix will also be offering employment workshops helping young people with their CVs as well as interview techniques.

The work with SWFCCP follows earlier investments into Sheffield Hospital Radio, where ForgeFix helped fund the refurbishment of the hospital radio facilities to help get the radio station back on air. Sheffield’s Hospital Radio is now broadcast daily across more than five hospitals across the region.

Michael Brown, CEO of Galleon Fixings the parent company of ForgeFix, said: “As a born and bred Sheffielder it’s fantastic to be able to support the SWFCCP and help youngsters from across the city to find meaningful experience as they seek career options.

“ForgeFix is committed to the region and supporting the community in which we trade.  Working through the platform offered by Sheffield Wednesday we can put back and help develop the next generation of workers.”
