The company also raised awareness of its ambitious partnership with Prostate Cancer UK through the ‘Screw Prostate Cancer’ campaign.
ForgeFix was in London recently to represent the building supplies industry at a Builders Merchant Federation Parliamentary Reception in Westminster, where it showcased the strength of the UK’s fasteners and fixings sector while supporting its major ‘Screw Prostate Cancer’ national health campaign.
The reception brought together parliamentarians and leading figures from across the construction supply chain and highlighted the importance of the regional building supplies sector to the UK economy. The company emphasised the strength, innovation, and resilience of manufacturers and distributors across the country, and the critical contribution they make to construction projects nationwide.
Paul Simpson, Sales Director at Galleon Fixings / ForgeFix said: “We were proud to be invited to Westminster to stand alongside the BMF in championing our sector. The fastener and fixings industry may sit behind the scenes, but it is fundamental to construction across the UK. At the same time, we are determined to use our platform to make a real impact on men’s health and through our partnership with Prostate Cancer UK, we are calling on the entire industry to help us Screw Prostate Cancer.”
The event provided an opportunity to promote the sector’s economic value, skilled workforce, and commitment to quality, while reinforcing the importance of continued government engagement with the building materials supply chain. ForgeFix also reaffirmed its support for the BMF and its work in representing merchants and suppliers across the UK, ensuring the voice of the industry is heard at the highest levels of government.
Alongside promoting the sector, ForgeFix used the parliamentary platform to drive awareness of its ambitious partnership with Prostate Cancer UK through the ‘Screw Prostate Cancer’ campaign, which will raise £100,000 for Prostate Cancer UK and encourage 100,000 men to complete the charity’s online risk checker.
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men, with one in eight diagnosed during their lifetime - and the risk doubled for black men. By targeting the male-dominated construction sector, ForgeFix is uniquely positioned to reach men who may be less likely to proactively seek health advice.
The campaign has already gained the backing of major industry organisations and buying groups, reinforcing a sector-wide commitment to both health awareness and charitable fundraising.
