DUNKINFIELD: Bardsley Construction has bounced back by announcing a strong forward order book after turnover and profits were hit by government cutbacks in 2011.
Pre-tax earnings for 2011 slid from £2.5m to £985 000, while turnover was down 24.8% from £60.7m to £45.6m.
As of May this year it had an order book of £31m, 73% of its target for the current period.
Chairman Roly Bardsley said: "The company had seen a reduction in turnover, which reflected the exit from residential development and the impact of market conditions, which have seen the average contract value reduce.
