Bromborough Paints, the largest decorators’ merchant in the North West, is changing its name to reflect its growth and strategic ambitions better, as it opens new branches and invests in its online business.

The new brand, PaintWell, which goes live from 22 November, will bring all the company's brands together under one name, creating consistency across the 18-strong branch network. The new brand will retain the existing blue identity and logo, to underlining a commitment to remain a local, independent decorators’ merchant.

Stuart Slocombe, PaintWell’s Managing Director, commented: “We plan to open more branches so we can take our outstanding range and specialist advice to new towns and cities across the North West, Yorkshire and the Midlands.

“We are also investing heavily in our online business, bringing together our successful Trade 1st and Bromborough Paints brands into a single new website, which truly reflects our range and stock, with a great user experience.

“Bromborough Paints and its sister brands will evolve to PaintWell – keeping our heritage blue and our logo but with a name that gives us plenty of scope for growth. No matter where a customer shops with PaintWell, they’ll find the same independent approach and great service that they’ve enjoyed from Bromborough. It’s a new name for the same great company.”

Bromborough Paints benefited from investment from Cairngorm Capital earlier in 2021, enabling it to build on its historic achievements and invest in its branches, people and service. The company has already delivered its first new branch in Warrington post-buyout, and a PaintWell branch will be opening in York on 29 November, with others in the pipeline for 2022.

Stuart Slocombe joined the company in June, to head the team that led the management buyout, comprised of John Ferrington, Dan Peacock, and Giuseppe Alfonso.

From 22 November, visitors to Trade 1st and Bromborough Paints’ websites will be directed to a new website - PaintWell.co.uk. The new name has been embraced by colleagues who are enjoying new uniforms, a new livery for stores and on vans, and in offers to customers.

For trade customers, PaintWell will also offer a comprehensive industrial paints range comprising paint, fire protections, cladding coverings, floor and roof decorating products to contractors nationwide.

“I’ve been so impressed by our colleagues,” said Slocombe. “They really embody what it means to be a ‘local independent’ with great expertise and great service. The Bromborough Paints brand has been in operation for over 70 years so we have evolved it sensitively to preserve that heritage. I look forward now to taking the same great service to customers old and new as PaintWell.”

The first opportunity to see the new PaintWell brand in action will be at The National Painting and Decorating Show, on 23 and 24 November, in Coventry.
