Calldene Structural Timber Solutions has strengthened operations at its Dover Trussed Roof Company site by investing in its first truss delivery vehicle.
As part of wider investment in the Kent site, the move is expected to help improve delivery and customer service, while increasing product availability across Southern England; supporting continued business growth and the growing demand for Calldene's trusses across the region.
The new 18-tonne truck can turn trusses upside down during transport, increasing Calldene’s maximum deliverable truss height from 4.0m to 4.7m. It also broadens the range of products the company can deliver, including Posi-Joists and panels alongside trusses.
Les Fuller, Managing Director at Calldene Structural Timber Solutions, said: “This investment is about strengthening our delivery capability and ensuring our customers receive an even more reliable service as we continue to grow. Having a dedicated vehicle gives us greater control, flexibility, and the ability to respond quicker to demand.”
The truck will be based at Calldene’s Dover Trussed Roof Company near Canterbury and will also serve customers from the company’s Triad Timber Components site in Lancing.
Keith Martindale, General Manager at Dover Trussed Roof Company, added: “The new truck is a major step forward for us. It gives us the capacity and flexibility to deliver a wider range of products, while improving what we can safely transport in terms of size and height. Ultimately, it helps us better support customers’ requirements on-site.”
Calldene Structural Timber Solutions’ in-house logistics will continue to be bolstered by third-party partnerships, ensuring it can provide just-in-time deliveries across Southern England and beyond.
