Covers Timber & Builders Merchants has been named as Mountbatten Hampshire Hospice’s Fundraising Charity Partnership of the Year in the charity’s annual awards.

The builders’ merchant has supported the hospice for many years with donations from initiatives including its Help for Hospices campaign and more recently the company’s Christmas Jumper Day.

Mountbatten Hampshire Hospice has been caring for people with life-limiting illnesses in Southampton and West Hampshire for over 40 years. This includes conditions such as respiratory disease, heart disease, Parkinson’s, motor neurone disease, multiple sclerosis, and end-stage dementia, as well as cancer.

Covers was recognised by the charity for its regular annual donations, even during the pandemic when the company was unable to host its usual fundraising activities.

Rupert Green, Chairman of Covers Timber & Builders Merchants, said: “We are delighted to have been named as one of Mountbatten Hampshire’s corporate award winners for 2021. It’s an honour to support the hospice and be part of the important work they do providing the community with access to high quality end-of-life care."

Nigel Hartley, Mountbatten Chief Executive, added: “Corporate supporters are vital to ensuring that we can continue to help everyone that needs our support. COVID has presented Mountbatten Hampshire with new challenges and we’re very grateful to Covers Timber & Builders Merchants and their staff, as well as all of the other award winners and participants, for continuing to support us.”
