The Builders’ Merchants Awards once again proved a fitting finale to the calendar year as it recognised and celebrated excellence by merchants and the people who work for them.

The longest running awards ceremony in the builders’ merchant sector celebrated its 22nd anniversary at the magnificent Park Plaza in Westminster.

This year’s lunch, held on Friday 24 November, was hosted by comedian Rob Beckett, whose cheeky chappie persona ensured the 700 present were royally entertained.

For more than two decades, the Builders Merchants Awards has offered the perfect opportunity to acknowledge the amazing people, teams, projects and innovations within the sector.

Twenty-four awards were announced to shine the spotlight on every part of the sector, whether it is for groundbreaking marketing initiatives or all-encompassing training courses, community schemes that prove a lifeline to local companies, or businesses that recognize that diversity and inclusion is the future of the industry.

C&W Berry stole the show by taking home an unrivalled quartet of trophies.

The Lifetime Achievement Award went to Ian Haldane who was recognised for his understanding of the builders’ merchant’s industry and the expertise to identify and mobilise effective levers of change for the positive improvement of the industry as a whole and set such high standards for others to aspire to.

Thanks to the generosity of all attendees, thousands of pounds was raised for Band of Builders, a charity that completes practical projects to help members of the UK construction industry and their families who are battling illness or injury.

The 23rd Builders' Merchants Awards returns to the Park Plaza on Friday 29 November 2024.
