SOLIHULL: Lafarge Cement builders merchants and their customers stand a chance to ‘Become a Speed King’ in a competition which starts this month.

The nationwide competition, which runs from 19 September to 18 November, offers builders merchants the chance to win a white water rafting adventure or a day of motor racing at Silverstone.

Winners will rediscover their sense of adventure as an experienced guide takes them on the water for a series of runs down the twists, turns and drops of the water course. The motor racing will be equally as exciting with racers sat just inches from the ground in Formula Silverstone single seaters, which are incredibly responsive and have been expertly engineered to provide a genuine racing thrill.

Builders merchants customers who buy a pack of Extra Rapid cement also stand a chance to win one of nine fun days out at Santa Pod Raceway, the home of European Drag Racing. It’s the fastest and loudest motorsport on earth with sensational race action from dragsters and doorslammers to beetles and bikes.

Mike Lomax, marketing communications manager at Lafarge Cement, explains: “Speed is essential for some jobs and that’s why Lafarge Cement created Extra Rapid − a fast setting cement suitable for all building repair and maintenance work. For nine weeks, in September to November, builders merchants and their customers can win an action packed adventure. Builders merchants stand a chance to ‘Become a Speed King’ with each sale of Lafarge’s Extra Rapid.”

Customers can register for the competition at or in-store using the competition letterbox. A quick response (QR) code has also been developed which is displayed on all point of sale materials. The QR code provides customers with quick and simple access to the online application via their smartphones.

Extra Rapid is an enhanced Portland Cement with built-in rapid hardening properties, giving it a one hour setting time and walk on strength within four to six hours. This means that a job can be both started and finished on the same day.
