Graeme Le Saux has been announced as this year’s guest speaker at the annual Guild of Architectural Ironmongers Education Awards.
Le Saux played for Chelsea, Southampton and Blackburn Rovers, helping the latter win the Premier League in 1995. He played for England 36 times between 1994 and 2000, scoring one international goal against Brazil.
Since his retirement from football in 2005, he has worked as a pundit for the BBC and on projects with the FA, UEFA, FIFA and Premier League.
The Education Awards recognise the achievements of students undertaking the GAI’s diploma, which is its own education programme. Top students will win a Gold, Silver or Bronze award. The Pinnacle Award, sponsored by ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions, will go to the student with the best aggregate results over the three years of the Diploma programme.
The ceremony is due to be held at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London on 8 November.
GAI President David Stacey said: “The Education Awards is a great opportunity to recognise students’ hard work over the past three years.
“It is also a chance for companies to celebrate the individuals within their teams who are going above and beyond to offer architects and contractors high-quality technical knowledge.”
