New stainless steel decking screws added to the popular Performance Range

Timed perfectly to coincide with the start of decking season, Samac Fixings has launched its range of stainless steel Performance Decking Screws, offering a high quality fixing solution designed specifically to meet the challenges of outdoor timber installations.

With outdoor projects continuing to surge in popularity, reliable fixings are critical to ensuring a high-quality, long-lasting finish. The new stainless steel Performance Decking Screws from Samac are the latest addition to the company’s decking range, offering even more features and enhanced corrosion resistance than Samac’s already excellent ACQ-coated Performance Decking screws. They feature the same great locking thread as the original Performance Decking screws but now come with a cylindrical head for a clean and discreet finish. Manufactured from A2 grade stainless steel, they offer a high level of corrosion resistance, making them ideal for use in exposed environments and ensuring a longer service life.

These screws offer a consistent, reliable performance in both timber boards and the increasingly popular composite decking boards and are available in two sizes, 4.5 x 50mm and 4.5 x 65mm. Each box also includes a free TX20 bit so installers have everything they need to get started right away.

Samac Fixing’s focus has been on creating a product that not only offers strength and durability but also ensures a professional finish without complicating installation. Key design features include a serrated thread, which cuts efficiently into timber to reduce splitting and lower the required torque. This serration also allows for quicker insertion, helping installers complete decking jobs more efficiently without compromising on quality.

A coarse locking thread clamps the timber sheeting firmly to the joists beneath, effectively eliminating board movement over time. This is particularly beneficial in outdoor settings where moisture and temperature fluctuations can cause timber to expand and contract. By minimising board shift, the screws help preserve the integrity and aesthetic of the deck over the long term.

The deep sharp thread has been engineered to provide a strong grip in wood, contributing to fast and continuous insertion. In combination with the TX drive and cylindrical head design, the screws significantly reduce the risk of cam out, improving torque transmission and ensuring a sleek, unobtrusive finish on the surface of the deck.

Additionally, each screw features a Type 17 point, which further reduces the risk of splitting and eliminates the need for pre-drilling. This makes installation more straightforward and saves valuable time on site, especially when working with hardwoods or dense composite decking boards.

“We know that decking projects are a key focus for many of our customers as we head into the spring months. Our new stainless steel Performance Decking Screws have been developed to offer trade professionals a reliable, durable and installer-friendly solution that can withstand the challenges of outdoor environments. It’s about giving installers the confidence that the fixings they’re using won’t let them down,” says James Robinson, Samac Fixings’ Sales and Marketing Director.

With their combination of stainless steel durability, clever design features and ease of use, Samac Fixings’ new Performance Decking Screws are set to become a go-to choice for installers looking to achieve flawless results in outdoor timber projects this spring and beyond.
