JT Atkinson, a 166 year old family-run builders’ merchant in the North East, has announced the opening of its first branch in Northumberland.
Located on the Meadowfield Industrial Estate in Ponteland, the new site is the company’s 38th branch, and what it sees as a significant step in its regional expansion.
The new branch offers a full range of building supplies, timber, roofing, landscaping materials, plumbing and heating solutions alongside a dedicated bathroom showroom. The expansion is creating eight new jobs in the area.
This expansion strengthens JT Atkinson’s presence across the north east, complementing existing branches in Sunderland and Bishop Auckland, while creating a more connected supply network for customers throughout the region.
The Ponteland branch is also expected to generate new employment opportunities, supporting the local economy and reinforcing JT Atkinson’s commitment to investing in the communities it serves.
Jamie Atkinson, Managing Director of JT Atkinson, said: “We saw an excellent opportunity to expand our services to local tradespeople and businesses in Northumberland, so opening a branch in Ponteland was a natural next step.
"This means local tradespeople and homeowners can get what they need more quickly and easily, without having to travel further afield. It’s about being closer to our customers and supporting the communities we serve.”
