The builders’ merchant's investment aligns with its mission to minimise its carbon footprint.

Family-run James Burrell has invested £600k in its transport fleet purchasing four HGV wagons, a flatbed wagon and a crane vehicle.

The builders' merchant, which has 11 branches based across the North of England from Northumberland down to South Yorkshire, has invested in the arrival of the new fleet to meet the growing customer demand from across the area, while continuing to provide their top-quality delivery service.

In addition to the company’s transport investment, the merchant has also added a number of new forklifts to the business at a value of £400k totalling £1 million since November 2022.

The company also spent £2 million on its fleet back in May 2022 which saw the new additions of ‘Euro 6’ emission standard HGV wagons, a tractor unit and trailers for internal stock transfers.

James Burrell’s investments align with the company’s mission to minimise its carbon footprint. It is dedicated to migrate all current forklifts to state-of-the-art electric forklifts throughout the business with planned future investments, showcasing its commitment to sustainability.

Head of Operations Tony Hall, says the investment will allow customers to benefit from the same quick delivery service, even as the company grows.

“The new additions to our fleet will make a huge difference to our operations, enabling us to better meet customer demand. We pride ourselves on delivering our goods safely and efficiently.”

The company currently has a fleet of 51 vehicles including crane off-loading vehicles, sprinter vans and flatbed vehicles and are capable of delivering 600 tonnes of material first load every day.
