Kellaway Building Supplies’ operations and commercial director Sean Morgan completed his first Ironman by swimming 2.4 miles, cycling 112 miles and running a 26.2 mile marathon to help raise money for the company’s chosen charity: Children’s Hospice South West.

The achievement is made all the more impressive following his training being interrupted by a road accident in April.

“Unfortunately, I had been training hard when I came off my bike by a motorist while out training,” explained Mr Morgan. He suffered serious facial and muscular injuries, as well as plenty of stiches. After hospital care, huge support from his family and a brief break from work, Mr Morgan was able to return to training only a few weeks after the accident, even more determined to complete his goal. He finished the gruelling event in an impressive 13 hours and 14 minutes, and is already planning his next event to support the charity.

Mr Morgan, who is Kellaway’s charity ambassador, has managed to raise over his initial target of £3,000 for the Children’s Hospice South West with the current figures standing at over £4,400.

“The charity does amazing work and the care they provide is invaluable to people in their hour of need. I am proud to be able to support Children’s Hospice South West, and I am delighted Kellaway have been able to get behind the charity and have completed some great fundraising and awareness events, with much more to come in the next few months,” he said.
