LBS Builders Merchants has entered 90 employees into this year’s ‘Men’s Health Survival of the Fittest’ race in Cardiff.

The event takes place on 28 September 2014, and will be the largest mass participation event in the company’s history. Survival of the Fittest is a gruelling 10km urban assault course full of tough obstacles, such as a ‘giant slippery wall’, an ‘army assault course’ and a ‘mud run’.

Staff across all branches and divisions of LBS will be taking part, including members from the group’s growing plumber’s merchant, Total Plumbing, and its specialist roofing branch Caseys. LBS will be running alongside more than 4,000 other competitors.

The aim of entering is to help support and promote healthy living, a sense of achievement, and a chance to team build.

Each entrant from LBS was asked to nominate five charities to receive a share of the monies raised in sponsorship. The five most popular were:

  • Cancer Research UK
  • Bobath Children's Therapy Centre Wales
  • Maggie's Cancer Care Centre Swansea
  • British Heart Foundation
  • Macmillan Cancer Support.

The money raised will be distributed equally between each charity.

LBS has set up the Twitter account @LBS_SOTF2014 and Facebook account facebook.com/LBS.SOTF2014 for the event. LBS customers and friends are being asked to support LBS by using its Virgin Giving online page: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/lbs-sotf and in branch over the counter.
