Marley has launched a new Technical Tools platform designed to simplify roofing specification and support builders’ merchants in responding quickly and confidently to customer demand.

The enhanced digital service brings together multiple specification and estimating tools into a single, easy-to-use online platform. For merchants, this means a faster, more accurate route to generating roofing project estimates, improving service levels for roofing customers and helping turn enquiries into sales.

Producing accurate roofing estimates from architectural drawings, including tiles, fittings and accessories, is a critical stage of any roofing project. The new Technical Tools platform streamlines this process, enabling merchants to quickly access the detailed product quantities and cost information needed to build reliable estimates. By reducing the time required to compile specifications and calculations, the platform supports merchants in delivering clear, professional quotations more quickly than before.

With the Government’s Warm Homes Plan and Future Homes Standard expected to drive increased demand for rooftop solar PV installations, Marley’s Technical Tools now includes a fully integrated solar PV configurator - an industry first.

Merchants can use the configurator to design solar arrays as part of the roofing specification, with the tool automatically calculating panel quantities, associated flashings and accessories, and providing an indication of system kW output.

Crucially, the platform also adjusts the roofing material quantities to reflect the inclusion of solar panels, delivering a fully transparent estimate where solar PV is integrated into the roof design from the outset.

For projects requiring detailed fixing guidance, the platform generates minimum fixing specifications for individual buildings based on roof dimensions, pitch, tile selection and site location. Specifications are produced in line with BS EN 1991-1-4 and BS 5534 fixing standards.

Once generated, fixing specifications can be saved and retained for future reference, providing reassurance and traceability for both merchants and contractors.

Marley’s Technical Tools also provides access to a full NBS Specification, outlining the scope of works for each roofing installation. This includes confirmation of product suitability, systems and accessories, alongside a concise summary of key installation requirements.

The NBS documentation can support accurate installation costing and underpins Marley’s 15-year system warranty.

Additional features of the upgraded platform include:

  • Automatic product compatibility, ensuring only suitable tiles, accessories and colours can be selected based on location and roof design
  • Guided, step-by-step workflows that prevent progress until errors or omissions are corrected
  • Project archiving, providing a complete record of past specifications for traceability and peace of mind

Commenting on the launch, Dan Redfern, Head of Marketing Communications at Marley, said: “For merchants, servicing roofing customers is now significantly easier thanks to the new Marley Technical Tools platform.

"By bringing together a suite of integrated tools, we’ve reduced the time merchants need to generate accurate estimates while giving them confidence that they are recommending fully compliant, compatible roofing solutions.

“The inclusion of the integrated solar configurator is a genuine industry first and comes at a critical time as demand for renewable technologies accelerates.

“For merchants, the ability to respond quickly with accurate, transparent specification information can make a real difference - helping them turn enquiries around faster and convert more opportunities into sales.”
