Mims Davies MP for Mid Sussex learnt all about the strength of Covers as an independent family-owned business during the pandemic.

Covers Timber and Builders Merchants in Burgess Hill welcomed Mid Sussex MP and Minister for Employment, Mims Davies, for a tour of its depot on Friday 9 October.

During the tour, Davies, who was elected as Member of Parliament for Mid Sussex at the 2019 general election, discussed the government’s new Green Homes Grant scheme, which Covers is supporting. The initiative will allow homeowners and landlords to apply for a voucher from the Government of up to £10,000 towards the cost of qualifying energy efficiency and low carbon heating improvements to homes.

The tour was conducted by Covers’ Managing Director Henry Green who presented Davies with a Covers’ branded facemask and Covers’ merchandise. He was accompanied by the Depot Manager of Burgess Hill, Terry Lace, and the company’s Timber Director, Neil Woods.

Green said: “It was a pleasure welcoming Mims to our Burgess Hill depot. We were pleased to have the opportunity to demonstrate how we have adapted to the new working conditions with Covid secure premises. We also highlighted the strength of Covers as an independent family-owned business during the pandemic”.

Davies said: “It was fantastic to visit Covers in Burgess Hill to see all the adaptations it has put in place to continue to trade safely. It has been incredibly difficult for businesses to operate and plan this year with the ongoing challenges of Covid.

"It was therefore great to see Covedrs delivering superb products and services to customers at near pre Covid levels and with the increase in home and garden improvement projects taking place in Mid Sussex during the pandemic, protecting local jobs. It was also very encouraging to hear that home offices are having a positive impact on sales.”
