National Buying Group (NBG) has signed up a new merchant partner. The latest recruit is Surrey-based Condell, a timber and builders’ merchant with two branches in Sutton.

Condell brings particular expertise of online trading to NBG and specialises in supplying insulation and drylining, lintels, timber, and general building materials to the local trade community.

“We are delighted to welcome Condell to the NBG family,” said Nick Oates, managing director of NBG. “We only accept applications from financially stable, well-managed, significant, independently-owned merchants, and Condell matches this profile perfectly.

“I know that the company has a strong and strategic growth plan and I firmly believe that joining NBG – and the advantages of competitive buying, IT support and knowledge sharing – will make a significant contribution to that growth.”

Jim McMeckan, managing director of Condell, is delighted that the company has joined NBG. He said: “We have traded very successfully for 10 years, but we realised that the best way forward for the business was to join a buying group, to improve the prices we could achieve and to streamline and develop our own buying processes.

“After looking around for a while we realised that NBG was the best fit by far with the Condell business. Not only because it offered the best deals on the products that we sell the most, but also because we could bring something to the party and get involved on improving this further. It’s a mutually beneficial partnership.”
