The buying society has been recognised as going above and beyond to carry out fundraising between March 2019 and April 2020

NMBS has been named a 2020 CRASH Fundraising Champion in recognition of the support the Buying Society has given the charity over the past year.

As one of only 17 companies within the construction industry to be named a Fundraising Champion, this recognition shows that NMBS has gone above and beyond to carry out fundraising between March 2019 and April 2020.

Thanks to a combination of fundraising activities including the Gala Dinner and Dinner Dance, NMBS raised a total of £23,548 for the charity.

This support will enable CRASH to continue its work supporting homelessness and hospice charities with life-changing building projects.

CRASH is a practical charity that helps homelessness and hospice charities to create safe places that care for people in need. The financial support NMBS has raised will be added to the pro-bono professional expertise and building materials that the construction industry provides CRASH, and will be channelled to help these building projects across the country.

With the Coronavirus pandemic adding to the many challenges that vulnerable people already face, it has never been more important for the construction industry to pull together and help those who are less fortunate.

Dean Hayward, Sales & Marketing Manager of NMBS, said: “We are delighted to have been able to continue fundraising and supporting CRASH over the past year, raising money for some amazing building projects that will make a real difference.

"The current crisis has shown why it is so important to give back and help those in need however you can. Being named a 2020 CRASH Fundraising Champion is a great recognition of everything our staff, members and suppliers have achieved, and we hope to be able to continue supporting CRASH in the coming year.”

NMBS is the most successful buying society in the UK for independent builders’, plumbers’, hardware and timber merchants. The Buying Society exists to help its members get the best possible deals from suppliers, through exclusive offers and terms to independents via centralised purchasing, marketing and event activities.

Established in 1963, NMBS now has more than 1,150 independent merchant members, who collectively comprise a 46% share of the merchant market, with combined sales in excess of £9 billion.
