David Harger has been promoted to Sales Director and will join the Board of Directors of independent Croydon-based builders’ merchant, Harris & Bailey.

Harger, who joined the business at 16 in 2010 after doing six weeks of work experience, takes on the role, having gained a huge amount of knowledge and expertise working in different parts of the business.

Starting on the trade counter gave Harger a solid grounding, meaning he was able to understand the product needs of different customers. He then moved into the warehouse where the focus was more on stock flow and managing stock levels. A short stint back on the counter preceded his move into sales in 2015.He became Sales Manager in 2021.

Harger commented: "I’m really excited to take on this new challenge and I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity.

"Harris & Bailey has been around for more than 100 years, and excellent customer service has always been a cornerstone of the business. That will remain for both our existing customers and as we look to win more new business.

"I’ll be focusing on sales growth, supported by our 14-strong sales team, as well as making sure we continue to look for new opportunities with suppliers. Not resting on our laurels is something which has been a crucial part of why we’ve been around for more than a century and is something we will continue to do."
