RGB Building Supplies has announced the closure of its Plymouth branch due to a fall in activity.
RGB Building Supplies published a laconic statement on its facebook page simply stating: "Please note : The Plymouth branch of RGB Building Supplies is now closed."
The statement goes on: "We apologise to those affected by this closure and sincerely thank you for your years of loyalty and support.
We intend to remain committed to ensuring a smooth transition for our customers, with the RGB branches situated nearest to Plymouth, eager to support you."
It is thought that 14 jobs could be in danger following the closure, although the company is trying to limit the impact on staff.
RGB Building Supplies, which operates from 21 other branches across the south west, was purchased by the Independent Builders Merchant Group (IBMG) in 2022. The group itself has just confirmed the launch of restructuring plans.
A spokesperson for RGB told PlymouthLive, which reported on the story: “RGB can confirm that its Plymouth branch ceased trading at the close of business on April 30. This decision was not taken lightly, and every effort was made to ensure a smooth transition for all those impacted.
“A comprehensive consultation process with our colleagues at the Plymouth branch has helped to minimize the impact on the local team. We are deeply grateful for their dedication and contributions to RGB, and we remain committed to supporting them during this period.”
