RGB Building Supplies is donating £1,000 worth of building materials to Landkey Primary School in Barnstaple, Devon, as part of its initiative to support communities local to its branches.

The school’s Forest School project forms part of their curriculum and helps pupils develop confidence, self-esteem and emotional and social skills by using the natural environment. The £1,000 worth of building materials means that the school can install the shed used to house the Forest School equipment and create a fire circle, where children will be able to experience outdoor cooking and learn how to stay safe around a fire, amongst other things.

Landkey Primary School is also planning to construct viewing supports enabling children to lean back and learn from the ever-changing environment above their heads, as well as creating level edges around their ponds so pupils can keep safe.

Joe Farnell, assistant branch manager at RGB Barnstaple, said: “We’re delighted to donate the materials to Landkey Primary School. The Forest School sounds like an amazing project and we’re pleased to be able to help them on their way to completing it.”

Zoe Gabriel, forest school leader at Landkey Primary School, added: “We would like to say a massive thank you to RGB Building Supplies. The materials will be a big help in ensuring that we can continue to develop our Forest School for the benefit of children.”
