Significant new investments have won Rhino Products the Manufacturer of the Year (turnover under £25 million) award.

Business owners Steve Egerton (pictured right) and Clive Boult received the accolade earlier this month at the black-tie event in Cardiff City Hall.

The Rhino Products 55,000 square foot factory in Deeside, Flintshire has been through some radical changes in the past 18 months, with the incorporation of several new product lines following the company’s acquisition of AVS Steps – a manufacturer of passenger vehicle side steps.

Rhino’s further investments in Deeside this year have included a new conveyor and wrapper system – and it will also be opening a new custom-built factory nearby to its current facility, which will be remaining open, to help meet its European expansion plans.

The company has also made great progress in the past year with its ISO certifications achieving both ISO 14001 for its environmental procedural practices and transitioning to ISO 9001:2015 for its Quality Management System.

Egerton said: “We are delighted to be recognised as manufacturer of year as our production processes are something that we have always prided ourselves on but an area which has undergone significant investment in recent years.

“Rhino Products would like to extend our congratulations to all nominees and winners from all categories, as well as thank the event organisers and presenter, the BBC’s Jason Mohammad, for all doing their bit to support Welsh manufacturing and industry.”

As a result of winning this award, Rhino Products has been automatically shortlisted for manufacturer of the year in the Made in the UK nationwide finals at Coventry’s Ricoh Arena next year.
