Russell Roof Tiles has staged a charity fundraiser Zumba class at its Burton on Trent head office, with proceeds going to the Help for Heroes military charity.
Staff from the company’s head office and plastics factory joined together to take part in the Zumba fitness class, a workout which encompasses elements of dance and aerobics. It is the first in a series of fundraising activities for Help for Heroes.
The class was led by Russell Roof Tiles’ customer service manager, Rachael Lancaster, who is an ex-aerobics instructor. Ms Lancaster said: “We all had a laugh dancing to Shakira’s ‘Waka Waka’ and I loved choreographing it. Many of the team came up with some interesting moves of their own!”
This event raised £700 for Help for Heroes, a charity that provides support services for men, women and their families who worked in the armed forces. Help for Heroes was chosen as the second charity to benefit from Russell Roof Tiles 50th anniversary year activity.
In the first half of the year, the firm raised £3,000 for Macmillan Cancer Care through three events - a staff fun day in Lochmaben, a staff football match and a staff sponsored weight loss.
Andrew Hayward, managing director at Russell Roof Tiles, said: “It was great to see so many people attend Zumba class and having fun at the same time, all for a good cause.
“Help for Heroes is a brilliant charity and provides excellent services. Many of our staff have been touched by their willingness to help brave men and women on their road to recovery.”
