Southern Sheeting has announced the appointment of Luke Brittle as Regional Commercial Manager and Sean Griffin as Regional Account Manager for the Midlands,.
Brittle has spent his entire career in the building products and merchant world, and his name is well known throughout the Midlands. Starting as a BMF apprentice at an independent builder’s merchant at the age of 18, he went on to Travis Perkins, progressing from sales assistant through to Regional Director. He later served as a Director at an independent merchant before setting up his own consultancy focused on developing people and businesses within the sector.
That breadth of experience, from the shop floor to the boardroom, gives Brittle a rare understanding of how merchants operate and what they genuinely need from their suppliers. As Regional Commercial Manager, he will work directly with contractors and farmers across the Midlands while also mentoring and developing the wider Southern Sheeting team.
He said: “My focus is on building a commercial strategy that genuinely grows the business across the Midlands. That means working closely with merchants, developing the right products and making sure we are a business that people in this region want to do business with.”
Griffin is a familiar face across the Midlands construction and merchant landscape, with a career in the sector that spans roles at all levels. After building a strong foundation in business development with a family-run reinforcement steel distributor and fabricator, he went on to serve as Area Sales Manager at Holcim’s Concrete Products Division, working with merchants, contractors and landscapers across a broad product range including hard landscaping, building blocks and packaged cements.
In his new role Griffin will be putting his knowledge of the sector to work across the full Midlands merchant patch, from the major national merchants through to the strong regional players and independents who are so important to this area. He is, by his own admission, genuinely excited about what Southern Sheeting can become here.
According to the company, what sets these two appointments apart is not just the depth of experience they bring individually, but how well they complement each other as a team. Brittle brings the commercial strategy, focused on merchant partnerships and product development across the Midlands. Griffin brings the relationships out on the road with builders' merchants and makes things happen on the ground. It is a strong combination.
Tony Hobbs, Managing Director, Southern Sheeting, commented: “We have been very deliberate about who we bring into the Midlands, and Luke and Sean represent exactly the kind of experience, local knowledge and genuine commitment to relationships that we stand for as a business.
"They are well known and well respected in this region, and that counts for a great deal. We are genuinely excited about what they are going to achieve.”
