The Pallet LOOP has announced the appointments of Dan McKane as Business Development Director and Ian Broad as Sales Director.

McKane joins The Pallet LOOP from the Soprema Group, where he held a senior commercial leadership role working closely with manufacturing, supply chain and commercial teams across insulation, roofing and wider building envelope solutions.

His background spans senior, manufacturing-led commercial leadership positions, giving him a detailed and practical understanding of how construction products are produced, distributed and sold through complex national supply chains.

Throughout his career, McKane has built an extensive network of senior industry relationships across manufacturers, national and regional builders’ merchants, buying groups and procurement stakeholders. He is also a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Builders' Merchants, reflecting his long-standing commitment to the builders’ merchant sector and the wider construction industry.

In his new role at The Pallet LOOP, he will focus on actively promoting sustainability across the construction sector, supporting manufacturers in adopting circular pallet solutions that reduce waste, improve logistics efficiency and deliver long-term environmental and commercial value.

Speaking about his appointment, McKane said: “The Pallet LOOP is playing an increasingly important role in helping the construction industry reduce waste and improve the sustainability of its supply chains.

"I’m excited to be joining at a time when manufacturers are actively looking for practical, commercially viable circular solutions. My focus will be on helping partners adopt LOOP in a way that supports operational efficiency while delivering measurable environmental benefits.”

Broad joins The Pallet LOOP following an outstanding 37-year career at Tarmac, where he held a range of senior commercial and leadership roles. Throughout his career, Broad built a reputation for consistent performance, commercial discipline, and strong relationship building, guiding teams through periods of major industry change, including consolidation, increased regulation, sustainability demands, and evolving customer expectations.

In his role as Sales Director, Broad will focus on driving industry adoption; strengthening partnerships with merchants, manufacturers, and contractors; and ensuring customers see clear and measurable benefits from participating in the scheme. His experience of managing complex supply chains and aligning diverse stakeholders will be instrumental in supporting The Pallet LOOP’s next phase of growth.

Reflecting on his move, Broad said: “At Tarmac, I learned the importance of long-term thinking; building strong relationships, maintaining operational discipline and doing the right thing, even when it is not the easiest option.

"Those principles are more relevant than ever, and they strongly align with what The Pallet LOOP is setting out to achieve. Change only succeeds when it works for everyone involved. My role is to listen, to challenge where necessary, and to help customers understand that reuse is not a burden. It is an opportunity.”

Together, McKane and Broad bring a combined 57 years of commercial and manufacturing experience across the UK construction and building materials sector.

Andy Williamson, Managing Director of The Pallet LOOP, said: “Dan and Ian couldn’t be more qualified for these new roles. Ian’s understanding of the construction supply chain, combined with his commercial leadership and values-driven approach, positions him ideally to help accelerate adoption of Pallet LOOP across the industry.

“With Dan, his depth of manufacturing knowledge and extensive industry relationships, make him a fantastic addition to the team. His practical, commercially grounded approach aligns perfectly with our mission to provide circular pallet solutions that work in the real world.

“We are delighted to welcome them both to The Pallet Loop team at such a pivotal moment in our journey.”
