WALES: Timber frame manufacturer Kingspan Off-site has been fined for polluting the River Rhymney in Blaenau Gwent.

The Abertillery Magistrates' Court heard that the firm's Tredegar plant polluted the river with the chemical Permethrin through airborne sawdust and water draining from treated timber stored on-site.

Kingspan was ordered to pay over £6000, including costs. The court decision followed detailed investigation by the Environment Agency.
