Inspirational adventurer to speak at BMF Members’ Day

Published:  09 June, 2015

Fundraising adventurer Dave Heeley has been confirmed as the latest speaker at the Builders Merchants Federation’s (BMF) Members’ Day in September.

The theme adopted by this year’s event is ‘People, Purpose & Passion’.

Few people show more purpose and passion than Mr Heeley, the first and only blind man to complete three separate gruelling physical challenges.

In April he conquered the Sahara Desert to complete the Marathon des Sables, a six-day, 156-mile ultra-marathon in one of the world’s most inhospitable climates, reputed to be the toughest footrace on earth.

In a previous challenge Mr Heeley cycled from John O’Groats to Land’s End in 10 days, running a marathon and cycling 75 miles each day, covering over 1,000 miles in total. He is also one of only four people ever to have run seven marathons in as many days, on seven continents.

He will share his experiences of the importance of teamwork, the power of trusting your team, and how to communicate effectively.

BMF Members’ Day takes place on 16 and 17 September, 2015 at Carden Park Golf Resort & Spa, near Chester.
