Christmas hampers donated to a primary school by a local supplier have helped raise £1,700.

Homefield Church of England Primary School in Great Yarmouth received the generous donation from groundworks and civil engineering supplier Scott Parnell.

Mark Simpkins is a driver at Scott Parnell, and his mother Pat Simpkins works in the school as a teaching assistant.

Mark Simpkins had mentioned to his employer that the school had been struggling to get donations for its annual Christmas Fayre.

So staff from Scott Parnell decided to put together two hampers to donate. One contained a selection of fresh fruit including bananas, grapes, apples and oranges, and the other contained Christmas goodies including Christmas pudding, Christmas cake, nuts, pickles and wine.

Both were sold at the school’s fayre, helping to raise £1,700. The funds will be used to invest in new science equipment.

Rachael Adamson, Director at Scott Parnell’s head office in Witham, said: “We are always happy to help worthy causes, so we are delighted to be helping Homefield Church of England Primary School.”
