BIRMINGHAM: Heating components group Curzon has become the first merchant to join the Carbon Monoxide Consumer Awareness Alliance (COCAA) in a bid to ensure that the dangers of carbon monoxide are taken seriously throughout the trade.

Part of the Saint-Gobain Group, Curzon has partnered with the COCAA to extend the reach of the awareness campaign and ensure that its customers understand the aims and objectives of the alliance.

Debbie-Sue Price, the company’s marketing manager commented: “Curzon is in a unique position in terms of industry knowledge and its ability to advise and counsel its customers. We believe that this is a natural partnership that will generate positive change throughout the industry.”

Nigel Dumbrell, chair of COCAA, added: “Raising awareness of the dangers associated with carbon monoxide remains our priority and having as many supporters as possible is a positive thing.

Set up in 2007 as a direct response to the All Party Parliamentary Gas Safety Group, COCAA has generated awareness throughout the UK, with the launch of a high profile campaign entitled ‘Carbon Monoxide – Be Alarmed’ in 2008.

Its members include representatives from energy suppliers through to carbon monoxide alarm manufacturers, trade associations, charities and victim support groups.
