BIRMINGHAM: A survey of Birmingham and Solihull Chamber of Commerce members showed that despite the Midlands experiencing deep freeze conditions, most employees have been able to get to work.
BIRMINGHAM: A survey of Birmingham and Solihull Chamber of Commerce members showed that despite the Midlands experiencing deep freeze conditions, most employees have been able to get to work.
Employers are entitled to dock pay of staff failing to turn up because of poor weather, although most companies have 'bad weather' policies so that employees who are unable to get to work are still paid.
Brendan Barber, general secretary of the Trades Union Congress, said employees should make every reasonable effort to get into work, but they should not attempt to travel if it is not safe.
