LONDON: EPS insulation products supplier, Jablite, is launching its site collection recycling scheme today.
The scheme was initially piloted with Willmott Dixon Group, one of the UK’s largest privately-owned capital works, regeneration and support services companies
Jablite's UK sales manager, Simon Cox, said: "Our innovations team worked with Willmott Dixon on a Passivhaus project for Camden Council in London.
"Willmott Dixon has a zero-to-landfill target and the company approached us at an early stage in the project planning to see if the cut-offs from the installation process could be recycled."
To keep the small site tidy and to minimise the space taken up storing the material, the Jablite team provided lightweight, hooded, branded Jablite bags. The installers could pull these bags around with them and put the cut-offs straight into them as they worked.
The team also set up a system where bags would be provided on the first delivery and set a target that only return loads would be used to carry the recycling bags back to Jablite.
"The lessons learned from this trial recycling scheme have been captured in a WRAP case study to benefit other construction suppliers to building sites," Mr Cox commented.
