PLYMOUTH: JAD Building Supplies has taken on five unemployed young people all aged under 24 as secured apprentices. The jobs, at depots in Stonehouse and Saltash, are funded by the Government’s Work Programme.
The five men were helped by Working Links, which delivers the Work Programme in the South West.
JAD Building Supplies will get the Youth Contract wage incentive, which gives firms up to £2275 for every 18-to-24-year-old they take on from the Work Programme.
Mike Parker, manager at JAD, said: "We needed people who were enthusiastic. The two-day work trials helped us find candidates."
