WEST SUSSEX: Dennis Smith, managing director of Bradfords Building Supplies has joined the board of United Merchants (Unimer) as a non-executive director.
WEST SUSSEX: Dennis Smith, managing director of Bradfords Building Supplies has joined the board of United Merchants (Unimer) as a non-executive director.
"The Unimer board is delighted with this appointment because Dennis brings with him a wealth of merchant experience and an in depth understanding of the merchant sector," said Unimer managing director, Howard Grant.
Mr Smith's career in merchanting started as a trainee at Jewson. He then moved to Hall & Co where he enjoyed a number of senior positions before progressing to that of operations director.
Following the acquisition of Hall & Co by Wolseley plc in 1999, Mr Smith was appointed to his current position as managing director of Bradfords Building Supplies, the long-established family-owned South West-based builders' merchant. He has previously served as an elected director of the Builders' Merchants Federation from 2006-11.
