Euramax National Account Manager Debbie Phillips explains: "The construction sector is a rapidly growing market, contributing to around 9% of the UK's GDP, and when it comes to builders' merchants, this trend certainly continues, with sales going up by 22% compared to the first six months of 2021, according to the Builders Merchant Building Index.

Having served big names such as Wickes, Selco Builders Warehouse and Travis Perkins for over 15 years, Euramax uses specialised expertise and refined manufacturing to produce a wide range of products that can be easily transported from its Barnsley-based factory to anywhere in the country.

And one way the leading fabricator ensures a reliable service to builders merchants is with its lean manufacturing approach.

Working from a 205,000 square foot manufacturing facility, the company provides a very structured approach to fabrication, meaning builders merchants – and other customers – not only receive high-quality products, but that these products will always be made to a consistently high standard.

Debbie explains: "Inspired by the automotive sector, we have a strong focus on constantly improving operations to provide a better service to the end user – our customers expect quality every time, so having an efficient setup that can produce products to a consistently high standard is imperative.

"In addition to lean manufacturing, we also specialise in lineside delivery, and we put a great deal of time and effort into packaging our products reliably and accurately, with window frames and glass packed together for convenience and ease of transportation, and in a way that best suits our customers."

Rich history

Of course becoming an expert in lean manufacturing doesn't happen overnight – but with a history of 72 years, Euramax certainly has a strong reputation as a reliable supplier.

Opening its doors in 1950, the company soon became the first in the UK to supply uPVC windows to the static caravan market.

Early last year, after many product developments, which included an expansion into uPVC windows and doors, and partnerships with leading builders' merchants, Euramax was acquired by Modular Group Investments (MGI), allowing the company to expand and develop its product portfolio and better understand its customers' needs.

Today, Euramax is an industry leader, supplying high-quality products to not only builders' merchants, but to the off-site and modular construction, holiday home and leisure markets.

Looking to the future
