Border Merchant Systems celebrated their 30th anniversary last year. As part of the celebrations, they unveiled a new look and a new website.

Back in 1990, Border was formed by a consortium of independent merchants as a support company. It wasn't long before it was identified that a whole new software system would be a good idea to better support those merchant businesses. In their second year, the Border ‘CounterAct' system was born.

Although the system is very different today, the values that formed the business still remain, namely, to provide first class software and support.

Border still work solely with UK independent merchants and remain dedicated to providing the very highest levels of software and support.

Border's only works with merchants in the UK – from small single site family run businesses, right up to some of the UK's largest and most successful independent merchants.

The Border system can still efficiently manage and control every aspect of a merchant business – from quotations and sales right through to reporting, accounts, stock control and delivery scheduling.

They continue to develop their merchant system in-house, releasing new system updates on average twice a year. All their users receive these upgrades as part of their support contract, so the system is constantly evolving whilst remaining compliant with current legislation, things such as Making Tax Digital.

New technologies, like their electronic proof of delivery app with integrated What3Words functionality, are always something Border looks to take advantage of. They have also recently launched integrations with Prommt – a customer not present cloud payment solution, as well as Dojo from Paymentsense, to enhance merchant payment options and security.

Working alongside their sister company Stratus21, they also offer trading websites. These give merchants the opportunity to have a fully integrated eCommerce website and trading software solution – everything linking seamlessly. An alternative to this is their account portal offering providing an online account management facility for trade customers.

Border have gone from strength to strength over the past 30 years and are looking forward to the future with confidence. They will continue to be a company that embraces new technology whilst remaining true to its core values.
