Specialist Driver Resourcing’s (SDR) sister company Building Materials Logistics (BML) is enjoying rapid growth following its launch earlier this year.
Sitting alongside SDR, a specialist provider of temporary drivers to builders' merchants and building materials suppliers, BML gives merchants access to a combined vehicle and driver service, supporting businesses with both short-term requirements and longer-term transport needs.
SDR has built its reputation on delivering experienced, fully compliant drivers with the consistency and sector knowledge that customers rely on. This focus on customer service and reliability is also reflected in BML's expanding offer, responding to growing demand from merchants and manufacturers for a more complete logistics solution.
BML currently operates in the South East, offering a service to all builders', timber and plumbing merchants within a 100-mile geographical radius of Southampton and north to Reading, Berkshire. This will continue to expand steadily until BML operates across mainland UK alongside SDR.
Simon Pritchard, CEO of Building Materials Logistics, said: "Through BML we can supply haulage solutions to merchants whenever they're needed, giving merchants a complete transport solution to make sure that they're tight delivery schedules can always be met.
"Over the years that Specialist Driver Resourcing has been working with merchants we've seen the problems that merchants can encounter when their lorries break down. Last-minute logistics issues can slow down deliveries, frustrating customers and causing delays that merchants can ill afford during such challenging times. BML offers a flexible solution that enables merchants to continue to meet delivery schedules no matter what obstacles stand in their way."
By offering a fully managed service, BML enables merchants to access additional transport capacity to cover unexpected breakdowns, or to meet unexpected demands, without the administrative burden of managing vehicles, drivers and compliance separately. This allows businesses greater flexibility, improved visibility, and the reassurance that operations are being handled by a team with a deep understanding of the building materials sector.
The launch of BML also strengthens SDR's overall proposition, allowing the business to support customers at multiple levels depending on their needs, whether that is individual driver cover or a fully outsourced logistics solution.
