The ForgeFix team complete 105-mile coast to coast walk in just five days.

Four determined walkers from ForgeFix have successfully completed a gruelling 105-mile coast to coast walk from Whitley Bay to Bowness-on-Solway in support of Prostate Cancer UK, as part of the company's ongoing Screw Prostate Cancer campaign.

Paul Simpson, James Blamire, Tim Strong and Andrew Strong set off on Thursday and crossed the finish line on Monday evening, completing the full 105-mile route one day ahead of schedule.

The five-day challenge was undertaken to raise awareness of prostate cancer and encourage more conversations around risk and the importance of early detection.

The challenge proved to be every bit as demanding as expected, with long days on the trail resulting in aching muscles, blisters, fatigue and even the loss of a few toenails. Despite the physical challenges, the team remained focused on the purpose behind every mile.

Throughout the challenge at least one member of the team wore the now-famous golden Screw Prostate Cancer costume throughout the entire 105-mile journey.

The distinctive screw-shaped costume attracted attention as the team passed through towns, villages and countryside, helping to spark conversations about prostate cancer and taking the campaign's message far beyond the walking route.

The team has been overwhelmed by the support received throughout the challenge from colleagues, customers, merchants, suppliers, tradespeople and members of the public. Their encouragement provided an important boost during the toughest stages of the walk and highlighted the strength of support for the campaign across the industry.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men, which sees 1 in 8 men diagnosed and if you're Black, that risk is doubled, which is why ForgeFix has chosen to support Prostate Cancer UK, targeting the male-dominated construction industry and rasising awareness and promoting testing.

The completion of the Coast to Coast walk follows ForgeFix team members completing four marathons in four countries of the UK – in which they officially set a new Guinness World Record – as well as a host of other fundraising activities that the company hopes will see them raise £100,000 for Prostate Cancer UK.
