The investment into a new, state-of-the-art production line for door linings and casings at its UK site demonstrates Metsä Wood’s long-term commitment to the UK market.

Following recent customer portfolio changes, and significant investments in a state-of-the-art ERP (enterprise resource planning) system, Metsä Wood UK has a clear growth strategy. The new production line will improve efficiency, product quality, availability, and customer choice, while strengthening the company's manufacturing capability and ability to serve customers across the UK.

Metsä Wood's established manufacturing sites in Boston and King's Lynn, supported by the wider Metsä Group supply network, provide a strong platform for ongoing service of UK customers with softwood and engineered wood products.

James Davenport, Managing Director at Metsä Wood UK, said: "The UK remains a key market for Metsä Wood. Our focus is firmly on the future: building strong, long-term relationships with merchant, trade and construction customers, while continuing to offer reliable, high-quality timber and engineered wood solutions.

"We have a broad product range, UK manufacturing capability and an experienced and highly effective team. This gives us a solid foundation for the future."

Metsä Wood is further strengthening customer partnerships through its focus on customer satisfaction, while developing its product offering in line with market needs. Recent growth in selected areas shows that the UK plan is already gaining traction, with further opportunities identified in both engineered wood and machined timber products.

The UK business is supported by the wider Metsä Group, including access to responsibly sourced Nordic wood, production expertise, and a reliable European supply network.

Jussi Noponen, Executive Vice President at Metsä Wood, said: "The UK continues to be an important market for Metsä Wood, with clear opportunities for future growth. We have made significant investments in our engineered wood production capacity, with the UK being one of the key growth markets. We are committed to developing the business in line with our long-term strategy and building a resilient, profitable and future-focused UK business."
