ERA says it has strengthened its commitment to providing industry-leading testing and certification support with the addition of a new team member as part of Quanex Hardware Solutions.

Dan Knight joins Quanex Hardware Solutions as Certification Manager and is expected to play a key role in advancing ERA's independent Test Laboratory in the West Midlands. His appointment supports the company's continued commitment to ensuring its product portfolio meets both UK and international compliance, certification, and testing standards.

With a decade of experience in the hardware sector, Knight has developed extensive expertise in new product development, regulatory compliance and product testing. In his role at Quanex Hardware Solutions, he leads the management of the company's UKAS-accredited UK testing laboratory.

Operating from ERA's advanced i54 facility, Knight is responsible for the independent testing and verification of products for both ERA and Zoo Hardware, as well as providing broader compliance support and fenestration solutions to customers across the industry.

Knight's appointment follows Quanex's purchase of the Tyman group in August 2024, which includes the brands ERA and Zoo Hardware. The two UK brands now sit alongside Giesse and Reguitti under Quanex Hardware Solutions.

Speaking of his new role, Knight said: "Having our own testing facility is a key differentiator for ERA, allowing us to completely control the process of making sure our products are fully compliant, perform well and operate safely, giving us confidence to go into the market.

"Established in 2007, the fully equipped facility provides independent and confidential assessments for windows and doors. As we look to continue our growth in this area, we are investing more in new equipment and providing our talented team with increased training opportunities to ensure we are compliant across all sectors and maintain the highest levels of testing quality, strengthening the trust we have built with our UK customers.

"Compliance is a key market expectation and for customers in the UK, there is a real benefit of working with a supplier with a global outlook on this."

Experienced engineers can provide an indicative report or a full UKAS accredited report for casement and sash windows, and single and double doors to the latest British and European Standards. The test laboratory UKAS verification means products tested are subject to a series of rigorous third-party accredited endurance assessments. It is also managed independently, ensuring testing remains confidential for customers who use this service.
