Craig Michel, the founder of Zappshelter, is stepping down from his role as Managing Director as Jake Michel steps up.

Zappshelter, the UK manufacturer of bespoke industrial shelter systems, has announced a significant leadership transition. Founder Craig Michel is officially stepping down to assume the role of Chairman, passing the executive reins to his eldest son and former Sales Director, Jake Michel.

Founded from scratch in August 2015, Zappshelter began with zero external funding and a singular vision: to sell a completely new product to a market that did not yet know it needed it. In its 11 years, the business has scaled aggressively to become a multinational brand and a significant local employer.

Operating from its headquarters in Perthshire, Zappshelter designs, manufactures and installs bespoke shelter solutions for a diverse range of sectors, including construction, plant-hire, waste and recycling, quarrying and aggregates, agriculture, and defence.

Proudly manufactured in the UK, every Zappshelter is structurally engineered to permanent building Eurocodes and has a full 10-year warranty. The structures are renowned for their durability, engineered using heavy-duty, hot-dipped galvanised SHS steel and the company's proprietary high-strength Taurinox fabric membrane.

Jake Michel has been instrumental to that growth, joining the fledgling business straight from school. Over the years, he has worked across the company, demonstrating the dedication, strategic vision and hands-on leadership required to guide the business forward.

"We built Zappshelter from the ground up, and Jake has been by my side since day one," said Craig Michel, Founder and Chairman. "For me, seeing this transition is a dream come true - my vision was always to build a lasting family legacy. I'm not going anywhere, but it's the right time for the next generation to lead. As Chairman, I'm excited to support Jake as he takes us into our next chapter."

In his new role as Chairman, Craig Michel will remain actively involved in the business, focusing on championing Zappshelter's culture, supporting the team, and empowering the next generation of leadership.

Under Jake Michel's direction, the company is preparing for an ambitious phase of growth dubbed ‘Zappshelter 2.0'. With expansive international plans and a robust pipeline of new projects, their message to the industries they serve is: expect even more innovation and dedicated service in the years to come.
