The Great Bookham branch of Chandlers Building Supplies is delighted to be supporting a customer’s charity ‘Benidorm or Bust’ challenge to raise money for the Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity.
Steve Matthews from Warm Flow Plumbing & Heating is being joined by Pete James from Swan Electrical to raise money by driving a 17-year-old Mercedes car across Europe as part of a ‘banger’ rally to Benidorm under the team name ‘Round the Benz’.
Joining them are the ‘Vauxhall Virgins’ made up of John Hunt and Tim Mould in an old Vauxhall Omega. Both teams are funding the trip themselves and have enlisted the support of local businesses as sponsors.
The Benidorm or Bust challenge will see the teams join 148 other cars all raising money for a wide range of charities. Leaving The British Motor Museum in Dover on 8 June, they will compete in a number of challenges while driving through Rouen and Clermont Ferrand in France and Lloret Del Mar in Spain before arriving in Benidorm on 11 June.
Mr Matthews said: “Rainbow Trust does fantastic work supporting families up and down the country who have a child with a life threatening or terminal illness and we hope to raise a great amount of money for them. We’re really looking forward to the challenge and would like to thank local businesses like Chandlers for sponsoring us.”
Chris Vernon, branch manager at Chandlers Great Bookham, added: “We’re always keen to support our customers with their charity endeavours and delighted to be one of the business sponsors. Everyone at Chandlers wishes the guys the best of the luck for the trip.”
