Russell Roof Tiles continues to see an increase in demand for its concrete pitched roof tiles particularly in the South, as planners and housebuilders seek a more sustainable alternative to traditional natural materials.

The Midlands and Northern based pitched roof tile manufacturers only recently started penetrating the Southern market.  The manufacturer is enjoying continued growth in demand primarily due to its sustainability options, with the South delivering one of the fastest volume increase for leading independent supplier Russell Roof Tiles.

Russell Roof Tiles provides products for the UK’s top house builders and high-profile social housing and commercial projects, where sustainability and eco-credentials are of the utmost priority. It is Russell Roof Tiles’ investment in product development with innovative new products well suited to the Southern market which is attributed to growth in the region.

Despite the current economic challenges, the South remains resilient.  For example, in the South East £2.53bn of construction work commenced on-site during the last quarter of 2022, a decline against the previous quarter, but still a 25 per cent increase again the same period in 2021.  Private housing accounted for the greatest share of new projects.?

This success is due in part to its expanding portfolio of new products including thinner leading edge Bute tile.

An example of this growth is the specification by leading British housebuilder Taylor Wimpey, who have joined forces with other housebuilders in the Hampshire area to develop a £13.5m residential collaborative community Shopwykes Lakes, with over 500 pitched roofing homes featuring Russell Roof Tiles. The development comprises of modern luxury 2,3- & 4-bedroom homes, including 50 allocated for affordable housing, for which Russell Roof Tile’s Bute concrete roof tiles have been specified.

This thinner leading edge product continues to grow in popularity since its launch in 2016,  offering the versatility of concrete and the benefits of greater strength, whilst providing the authentic appearance of natural materials.

With sustainability growing to be at the forefront of housebuilders and developer's requirements for projects, Russell Roof Tiles concrete tiles offers the benefits of being environmentally friendly. Many of its roof tiles are manufactured using 15 per cent less raw materials than a standard interlocking tile, meaning that it is environmentally a “greener” choice due to being delivered to site on fewer pallets and therefore reducing transport and packaging. The production process also allows for a 30 per cent energy saving when compared to natural clay tiles.

Russell Roof Tiles has been specified across various developments in the south such as Berkshire, Essex, Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire, Surrey and Hampshire. Bellway Homes’ specified Russell Roof Tiles on its South Gloucestershire development at Ladden Garden Village has been designed around the principles of a traditional English village.

In 2022 Russell Roof Tiles announced plans to become a Net Zero business by 2040. The manufacturer works hard to source materials locally and were the first British roof tile manufacturer to have achieved an “Excellent” rating for responsible supplier sourcing.

Russell Roof Tiles is the largest independent manufacturer of concrete derivatives in the UK pitched roofing market and is a pioneer of state-of-the-art roof tile design and manufacturing, focusing on concrete pitched roof tile production.
