David Shannon took the decision to retire from his role as company Accountant last year to be able to spend more time with his family.
Shannon was invited to take on a role of in-house accountant for the family firm nearly 30 years ago, while he was working for the accountancy firm who did the end of year accounts for Stewart and Heather Shaw. Originally, his contract was for just 2 days per week.
He recalls: "Stewart and Heather changed my life completely. Accepting this was the best decision I ever made and over the years, 2 days became 3 then 4 and then full time.
"I have been here to see Cowal Building & Plumbing Supplies Limited growing from the original branch in Dunoon, turning over approx. £2 million to then take on Rothesay, Balloch, Dalry, Catherwoods, John Cameron, JKM and most recently Neilson Joinery and will turnover in excess of £22 million this financial year. This has been a remarkable and fantastic journey, which I am proud to have had the opportunity to be part of."
