Dover Trussed Roof Company, part of Calldene Structural Timber Solutions, has invested in a new £140,000 machine press to improve health and safety and increase production flexibility and efficiency.

The installation of a new Mark 8C A-Frame press, manufactured by MiTek Industries, reduces manual handling requirements in the assembly process of trusses, creating a safer, more efficient working environment for employees.

Complementing the Kent site’s recent building expansion, the machine press installation maximises the newly upgraded production space – increasing flexibility and enabling the business to take on more complex and bespoke projects.

Used for truss assembly and pressing joint connectors to form the finished product, the machinery features independent pressing tables that will reduce bottlenecks and lead times compared to traditional single bed presses.

Additionally, the press’ versatility gives designers greater scope to develop innovative solutions – resulting in improved design-led outcomes, additional capability and greater structural solutions for clients.

Les Fuller, Managing Director at Calldene Structural Timber Solutions, said: “The installation of the MiTek machine press is a pivotal step in our ongoing investment programme.

"By creating a safer and more efficient manufacturing environment, we are directly improving responsiveness at Dover Trussed Roof Company while expanding the support we provide to customers via our Triad Timber Components site.

"This increased efficiency will ensure faster turnaround times for our clients, further strengthening Calldene’s reputation as a flexible, technically capable partner.”

This installation is the latest of recent upgrades for Calldene, following a major building expansion and investment in the company’s first dedicated delivery vehicle – as the business continues to prioritise improvements in capacity, efficiency and customer service. Serving both of the company’s production sites, Dover Trussed Roof Company and Triad Timber Components, these enhancements improve capacity, delivery services and capabilities to customers across Southern England.
