Apprentices will learn from in-depot and classroom sessions over the 14-month programme.

Howdens, the UK’s number one trade kitchen supplier, has launched a new, enhanced group programme for Kitchen Sales Designers across major UK cities including Leeds, Newcastle, Sheffield, Liverpool and Manchester, to give young people and education leavers to start a career with Howdens.

No prior experience is needed, and the apprenticeships will suit those who are passionate, driven and keen to develop a career with unlimited growth. Enjoying building relationships, being motivated, keen problem solvers and a competitive spirit will also help in the role.

Apprentices will learn as part of their regional cohort and will join classroom sessions, direct learning from Howdens experts including lead kitchen sales designers, product and category teams and internal sales and leadership teams, as well as close support from learning and development and training partners. The apprenticeship also includes one-to-one support from an apprenticeship coach, sponsorship from senior leaders and a structured, supportive route into a sales career with real progression opportunities.

Successful apprentices will achieve a Level 3 Fitted Furniture Design Technician Apprenticeship over 14 months achieved through a combination of on-the-job learning, classroom sessions and external training.

James Baker, Apprenticeship Manager at Howdens, said: “This is a brilliant opportunity to start a career with unlimited potential and gain skills, confidence and the experience to open doors at Howdens and throughout your career. Our apprenticeships are perfect for people who thrive in a team environment. The role of Kitchen Sales Designer centres on creativity and relationships and is an exciting and rewarding role.

“Many of our colleagues, more than one in ten, started their careers with us as apprentices. They are a huge part of what makes our business successful, so we’re excited to welcome this new cohort to our enhanced scheme.”

The apprenticeships would suit those leaving college or moving onto their second job, and a driving licence is essential for visiting customer homes and sites, with business mileage reimbursed. The apprenticeships have a starting salary of £16,686, plus paid holiday and generous pension contribution
