The theme is Thrive: How to advance your career in Merchanting.

The Institute of Builders Merchants has announced the venue, host and theme, for its third conference.

The conference, which is open to both IoBM members and non-members, will take place on 15 October 2026 at the JCB World Headquarters in Uttoxeter.

The IoBM conference will be hosted by Jason Mohammad, the BBC TV and radio presenter, best known for hosting BBC One’s flagship football shows, Match of the Day, MOTD2 and Final Score. Mohammad's professionalism, warmth and humour make him one of the most sought-after hosts in the events world, and his skills have won him many fans at previous BMF Conferences.

Appropriately for an organisation dedicated to supporting professional development, the theme of this year’s IoBM conference is Thrive: How to advance your career in Merchanting.  As part of the registration process, everyone attending will be asked to identify the single skill they consider most critical to the future success of merchanting. Their responses will be addressed directly during the day.

Attendance at the conference is free for IoBM members, but they must register in advance.  The cost for non-members is £65+VAT.  However, with many other benefits available to members, and individual membership starting at £20, depending on membership level, this is a great time to join.

Marianna Peet, BMF Learning & Development and Apprenticeship Manager, said: “This promises to be a fantastic day for everyone interested in career development and the future direction of merchanting. Delegates will also have the opportunity to attend a post-conference dinner and network with colleagues.”

John Newcomb, Chairman of the IOBM Management Committee, added: “The IoBM Conference is a unique opportunity for members and those considering membership to come together, share ideas and focus on the skills that will drive our industry forward. I look forward to welcoming delegates to what promises to be an inspiring and valuable event.”

Registrations for the IoBM Conference are now open. Find out more and reserve your place at the following link, IoBM Conference Bookings, or go to the Events section of the BMF website – www.bmf.org.uk
