Chris Hayward, who left NMBS after 47 years service earlier this year, replaces Stephen Harrison in the role.
The NBG has announced the appointment of Chris Hayward as its new Non-Executive Chair from 1 July 2026.
As former CEO of NMBS, Hayward has been a long-standing supporter of the independent merchant community and will bring deep sector knowledge, strategic insight and a highly collaborative approach to the role.
Commenting on his appointment, Hayward said: “I’m delighted to be joining NBG. It’s a business I’ve admired since its formation, and I’m looking forward to working closely with the board, executive team and Partners to build on past successes, strengthen collaboration, and navigate the sector’s challenges and opportunities together.”
Hayward, who left NMBS after 47 years service earlier this year, replaces Stephen Harrison in the role.
The NBG thanked Harrison "for the positive impact he has made on NBG during his time in the role and wish him every success for the future".
