Mark Clark brings a close understanding of the developing requirements of the customer base.
Mark Clark has been appointed to the new role of Director of Sustainable and Renewable Sales at SIG UK.
His priority is to ensure SIG is supporting its customers with a comprehensive range of appropriate products to meet the increasing focus on sustainable and renewable solutions.
With a lifelong interest in sustainability and over three years’ experience within SIG, Clark brings a close understanding of the developing requirements of the customer base.
“I believe that, as a society, we are at a turning point and our buying decisions will increasingly be influenced by the environmental impact of the products we buy," he said.
“As a major distributor we can play an essential role in the supply chain, understanding what our customers need and providing the authenticated product ranges that fulfil the increasingly demanding criteria being set by clients and legislation.”
Clark will be working closely with the Building Research Establishment to establish independent and consistent methods of evaluating product sustainability – likely to include factors such as: embodied carbon, in-use performance and recyclability.
“In this fast-moving market, a niche product, offering particular sustainability advantages can become mainstream very quickly once included in the SIG product portfolio," he said. "Part of my role is to provide a new route to market for such emerging products and technology.”
This appointment, together with that of Lorna Stork as Environment, Sustainability and Governance Director, highlights the Group’s recognition of its potential to make a positive contribution to the environmental performance of the construction sector.
