John Newcomb, BMF Chief Executive Officer, said: “Where would our industry be without successive generations of talented managers and innovators? The BMF has long supported younger colleagues working throughout the building materials sector. This year we are delighted to join with BMN to identify the Top 100 Young Achievers in today’s industry.

“This month we can reveal the first 25 Young Achievers who will be invited to a gala dinner in May. Drawn from builders and specialist merchants as well as the suppliers and service companies that support them, they have all been nominated for the positive impact their actions have had for their business, and the industry overall. We congratulate them and look forward to celebrating with them in May.”

Lucyanne Matthews, Associate Publisher, said: “BMN is pleased to work in partnership once again with the BMF to this time highlight the Top 100 Young Achievers.

“The first 25 of those 100 is revealed and all of these under 40-year-olds have demonstrated their dedication to working either as merchants, suppliers or serving the merchant sector.

“It has been an absolute pleasure to see so many entries being sent in for the Top 100 Young Achievers. All these dynamic young people have achieved so much collectively and are an asset to the building materials supply industry.

“They’ve shown that through their hard work and tenacity they’ve grown into the leaders of the future, and I feel that this sector is going to be very safe in their hands.”

With the help of main sponsor NMBS, BMN and BMF called for the hidden gems who keep surpassing all expectations to put their heads above the parapet.

As well as being able to nominate themselves, any member of their team could nominate the young achiever whom they believed were most deserving of special recognition.

Nominees had to be 40 or under on 16 May 2024 and from across the building materials industry – be it a merchant, supplier, service supplier or buying group.

To qualify the following questions had to be answered:

Why are you/is the nominee such a good candidate for this award?

What are your/their top achievements?

What positive impact did the results have on the business?

What other significant achievement have you/they completed throughout their career?

The successful 100 will be highlighted by both BMN and the BMF in the months leading up to a special gala black tie event at The Belfry, in Sutton Coldfield, on 16 May 2024.
